History
The Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM) is a public institution, subordinated to the Ministry of Economy and aims to achieve national policies in the field of standardization, in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 20 of 04.03.2016 on national standardization. The organization and functioning of ISM are regulated by the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the Institute for Standardization of Moldova, approved by Government Decision no. 996 of December 27, 2012 on some measures to reform the system.
Creation of the “Moldovan Republican Laboratory for the Control of Standards and Measurement Techniques”

Creation of the “State Department for Standards, Metrology and Technical Surveillance”

Registration of the state enterprise “Center for Standardization and Metrology of Moldova”, founded by the “State Department for Standards and Metrology of the Republic of Moldova”

Creation of the “Bureau of Standardization” with the status of a scientific institution (liquidated on January 1, 2003)

The Republic of Moldova becomes a full member of the EASC (Euro-Asian Standardization Council) since its inception (Agreement on the promotion of concordance policy in the field of standardization, metrology and certification of March 13, 1992)
EASC is recognized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as a regional standardization system.

The Republic of Moldova becomes a corresponding member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) (Parliament Decision no. 596-XIII of 03.10.1995 on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to ISO)
ISO is an international, non-governmental organization, established in 1947, as the successor to the International Federation of National Standardization Associations (ISA), established in 1926.
