The national standardization activity is carried out within the technical standardization committees, organized by fields of activity. Their activity is carried out both nationally and at European and international level.

National technical committees are mostly organized as a mirror of European, international and/or interstate technical committees.

The structure of national technical committees should, as a rule, be aligned with that of the technical committees of the European standardization organizations (CEN/CENELEC/ETSI) and, as far as possible, that of the technical committees of international organizations (ISO/IEC), so that each international, European technical committee, in which the Republic of Moldova participates, has a national mirror technical committee. A technical committee may correspond to one or more European, international technical committees.
