The label on commercial footwear may be written or pictorial, but must be visible, well-applied and accessible. The label must be printed or applied to the article of footwear and appear on at least one of the items that make up the pair of footwear.
Also, manufacturers will be responsible for providing the label and its accuracy, and in the case of imported products – this obligation rests with the person who first introduces the footwear item to the market. Retailers are responsible for how footwear with the appropriate labels is marketed.
“Through this project, consumers are assured a higher level of protection and the right to information, by making economic operators responsible and improving the national regulatory framework in the segment of footwear and footwear labeling”, said Vadim Gumene, State Secretary at the Ministry of Development Economic and Digitization.
