The European Commission has welcomed the provisional political agreement reached by the European Parliament and the Council regarding the Commission’s proposal to revise the Mercury Regulation.

The revised mercury regulation will ban the last remaining intentional uses of mercury in the EU, according to the EU executive announcement. By banning the use of dental amalgam from 1 January 2025 and introducing a ban on the manufacture, import and export of certain lamps containing mercury, this revised regulation will further protect Europeans against toxic mercury.

This is an important step forward in protecting human health, as well as achieving significant environmental benefits, in line with the EU’s ambitious goal of reducing pollution to zero.

The standards for determining the mercury content can be purchased from the online store of the Institute for Standardization of Moldova – https://shop.standard.md/
