World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated every year on April 23 to promote reading, literature and copyright around the world. This special day has its origins in 1995, when UNESCO proclaimed April 23 as World Book Day, in memory of the great writers who were born or died on this day, such as William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.

During this celebration, we also remember the importance of protecting intellectual work. Standards, those compendiums of knowledge and techniques, are considered scientific works and are protected by national copyright and related rights legislation. This protection ensures that the work of creators is recognized and respected, stimulating innovation and promoting progress in various fields of human knowledge.
