The Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM) draws attention to the importance of complying with food safety standards, in the context of the increase in mushroom poisoning cases recorded since the beginning of the year. According to the data provided by the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP), over 20 people, including a child, arrived at the hospital after consuming poisonous mushrooms.

In this context, the Institute for Standardization of Moldova highlights the importance of applying international food safety standards, such as ISO 22000:2018 – Food safety management systems. These standards provide an essential framework for controlling the risks associated with food products and are essential for protecting the health of consumers.

Adherence to the standards helps to significantly reduce the risk of food poisoning by ensuring that the processes of harvesting, handling, preserving and marketing mushrooms are carried out safely. Also, the standards facilitate the traceability of food products, allowing the quick identification of contamination sources and immediate intervention in case of emergency situations.
