The representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM) and the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (MDED) participated in the final meeting of the TAIEX expert mission, held between November 4-8, 2024. This mission aimed to assess the level of preparation and alignment of the Republic of Moldova with the practices of the European Union, in the perspective of initiating negotiations for an Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA).

An ACAA Agreement will facilitate the access of industrial products from the Republic of Moldova to the European Union market, allowing local producers to certify their products in the country, with the recognition of the results of the conformity assessment at the national level. This will significantly reduce technical procedures and associated costs, thus contributing to the promotion of domestic products on the European market.

The TAIEX mission included a detailed assessment of the legislative framework and administrative capacity, building on the results of a previous pre-assessment. Following this analysis, priority areas for ACAA negotiation were identified, such as low voltage equipment and electromagnetic compatibility.

The conclusion of this Agreement will represent an important step in strengthening commercial relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, facilitating the free movement of products and strengthening consumer safety.
