Every spring, the Danube is reborn. Its deep waters pulse with life, and the shad, the harbinger of the warm season, embarks on its long journey to spawning grounds. It is an ancestral spectacle, a dance of nature that we are obliged to protect.
The Republic of Moldova, through its gateway to the river – the Prut – hosts this natural miracle. Here, shad fishing is not just a tradition, but also a responsibility. Unfortunately, poaching continues to cast a shadow over this fragile balance. Illegal nets, destructive methods, and a lack of respect for the aquatic habitat endanger not only the shad but the entire Danube ecosystem.
In this context, the Institute for Standardization of Moldova issues a call:
Respect nature! Respect the rules! Respect the standards!
Standards in the fishing sector – whether we are talking about sustainable fishing, food safety, or biodiversity protection – are clear guidelines for a healthy future, both for people and nature. They set limits, methods, practices – but also values: respect, sustainability, balance.
Legal shad fishing means not only clean food and preserved tradition but also a promise to future generations: that our rivers will continue to pulse with life.
Respect the standards. Maintain the balance. Protect the shad.
