The Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM) hosted the visit of expert Pamela Tarif and the coordinators of the PTB project “Strengthening Quality Infrastructure for EU Accession and Competitiveness in Moldova” – Theresa Reinel, Raresha Galaicu and Katharina Telfser – with the aim of assessing ISM’s technical and institutional capacities and planning operational activities for the 2026–2029 period.
The meetings addressed the analysis and prioritization of project actions, including the assessment of ISM’s institutional and technical needs to strengthen the standardization segment, part of the national quality infrastructure (QI); the identification of effective collaboration mechanisms with international partners and European standardization bodies; and the definition of strategic support to reinforce ISM’s status as an active member in European and international standardization organizations.
The project aims to develop QI capacities as a critical element for:
- aligning the regulatory and operational framework with European Union requirements;
- supporting the accession process through the implementation of international standards and audit and certification practices;
- increasing economic competitiveness through integrated quality infrastructure, facilitating compliance of domestic products and services with European standards;
promoting interoperability and international recognition of Moldovan products and services.
