On April 23, 2026, the Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM) organized an online event via Zoom entitled “Strengthening standardization in the field of wood products and finished and semi-finished wood products: establishment of a new technical committee”.

The event was held in the context of developing the national standardization framework in the wood and furniture sector, as well as aligning with European and international practices in this field.

The purpose of the meeting was to facilitate dialogue between public authorities, producers, academia, and other interested stakeholders, with a view to initiating the process of establishing the Technical Committee for Standardization “Wood and finished and semi-finished wood products”, as well as its related working groups.

During the event, relevant topics were addressed, including European practices in organizing technical committees in the wood and furniture sector, as well as the objectives and areas of activity of the proposed new technical committee.

The Institute for Standardization of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to supporting the development of an efficient national standardization system aligned with European and international requirements, for the benefit of the economy and society.
