On 19 May 2026, the Institute for Standardization of Moldova organized the establishment meeting of Technical Committee TC 81 “Wood, Semi-Finished and Finished Products, and Furniture”, an event dedicated to strengthening standardization activities in the wood processing and furniture industry sectors.

During the meeting, participants discussed the role, responsibilities, and obligations of a technical standardization committee, the process of establishing and defining the scope of Technical Committee TC 81, as well as its future connection to the activities of the European technical standardization committees once ISM obtains full membership status in CEN and CENELEC.

At the same time, the organizational structure of the committee was discussed, including the election of the Chairperson and the coordinators of the working groups within TC 81 “Wood, Semi-Finished and Finished Products, and Furniture”, together with the definition of their responsibilities and duties.

The establishment of TC 81 represents an important step towards the development and promotion of standardization in the wood and furniture sector, contributing to the alignment of national practices with European requirements and standards.
