On 18–19 June 2026, the Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM) is participating in the General Assembly of the European standardization organizations CEN and CENELEC, hosted by the Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS).
The event brings together representatives of national standardization bodies from across Europe to discuss the strategic directions and current priorities of the European standardization system. This year’s agenda includes topics such as the role of European standardization in strengthening competitiveness, innovation, and economic resilience, as well as the contribution of standards to building a secure digital Europe.
For ISM, participation in this meeting is of particular significance, as the agenda of the General Assembly includes the consideration of ISM’s application for full membership in CEN and CENELEC. During the meeting, the members of the two organizations will decide, through a secret ballot, on ISM’s application.
Joining CEN and CENELEC represents a strategic objective for the Republic of Moldova and, consequently, for ISM, contributing to deeper integration into the European standardization system, facilitating the alignment of national standards with European standards, and supporting the country’s European integration process.
ISM remains committed to promoting the active participation of the Republic of Moldova in the European standardization community and to supporting the development of a modern standardization system aligned with European requirements and best practices.
