The approval of ISM’s membership marks an important step in the continued evolution of the European Standardization System and reflects the Republic of Moldova’s continued commitment to closer alignment with the European framework for standardization. It also highlights the growing reach, openness, and strategic relevance of CEN and CENELEC in supporting Europe’s economic integration and competitiveness.

As a Member, ISM joins the network of national standardization bodies working together within CEN and CENELEC to develop voluntary European Standards that support innovation, safety, sustainability, and the competitiveness of the European economy.

ISM’s accession further reinforces cooperation within the European Standardization System and will enable Moldovan experts to participate fully in the technical and governance activities of CEN and CENELEC, including with voting rights, thereby contributing directly to the development of European Standards.

ISM has engaged with the European standardization community for many years, first as a Companion Standardization Body and subsequently as an Affiliate. Over time, it has demonstrated a strong commitment to the adoption of European Standards and to the alignment of its national standardization framework with European principles and practices.

The membership of ISM further broadens the reach and inclusiveness of the European Standardization System at a time when CEN and CENELEC continue to evolve in response to Europe’s changing economic, industrial and policy landscape. It supports greater convergence across Europe and reinforces the role of standards in delivering a stronger, more competitive and more innovative Single Market.
