On 18 June 2026, members of Technical Committee TC 78 “Environmental Management” and Technical Committee TC 73 “Water Quality” convened for a working meeting to examine the proposal for reorganizing standardization activities in the environmental field.

The meeting agenda included topics related to the reorganization of TC 78 through the integration of TC 73, the designation of the reorganized committee, the presentation of its updated organizational structure, as well as opportunities for cooperation with relevant European and international standardization technical committees within CEN, CENELEC and ISO.

Following the decisions adopted during the meeting, Technical Committee TC 78 was reorganized and renamed TC 78 “Environment”. In addition, six working groups were established within the committee to ensure efficient operation and make the best use of members’ expertise in coordinating standardization activities within their respective areas of competence.

The new structure will contribute to strengthening the participation of national experts in European and international standardization processes and to promoting modern practices in the fields of environmental protection and water resources management.
