On 30 September, representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Moldova
(ISM), accompanied by experts from DKE and PTB, held a public lecture for
students of the Faculty of Energy and Electrical Engineering of the Technical
University of Moldova (UTM).
During the session, students learned more about ISM’s activities, the role of
standards in the economy and industry, as well as the importance of specialists’
participation in standardization work. The discussions highlighted how standards
contribute to safety, quality, compatibility, and the development of technologies
and products.
The session was highly interactive, with students showing particular interest in
how standards can be accessed and used in their professional activity. They asked
questions about where standards can be found, how a standard is structured and
what it looks like, and how it can be purchased, as well as about the experts’
personal experiences: which standards are particularly relevant to them and how
they came to work in the field of standardization.
Through such meetings, ISM brings standardization closer to students, helping
them discover it beyond technical documents and understand how it contributes to
the development of products, services, and solutions that comply with European
and international requirements.
The public lecture was organized as part of the “Students – the Future of
Standardization” programme, with the support of the PTB project “Strengthening
Quality Infrastructure for EU Accession and Competitiveness”.
