The delegation of the Republic of Moldova, led by the Minister of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu, participated, between July 26-27, in Ankara, at the 10th session of the Joint Moldovan-Turkish Commission for Economic Collaboration, the Turkish delegation being led by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey, Fahrettin Koca.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the evolution of bilateral trade-economic relations and potential actions to enhance investment relations and collaboration in various sectors of strategic importance for both countries. At the same time, the commission’s technical team finalized the Memorandums of Understanding on collaboration in areas such as standardization, environmental protection, labor and social protection, which will be signed during the visit of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Chisinau.

In the same context, the parties expressed their readiness to continue the line of cooperation in the fields of standardization, agreeing to support each other within the Interregional Association for Standardization (BASB), on the regional platform and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Commission International Electrotechnics (IEC), on the international platforms of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), at the European level.

The co-chairs of the meeting noted that the deployment of such commissions maintain Moldovan-Turkish bilateral relations and strengthen the commitment of both sides to expand bilateral trade.

The joint Moldovan-Turkish commission represents a vast platform for discussions on the most important topics on the economic-commercial agenda.

The discussions were attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Investment Agency /Invest Moldova Agency, as well as those of the Moldovan Standardization Institute.
