The Institute from Standardization of Moldova (ISM) has obtained the status of affiliated member of CEN-CENELEC and is aspiring to become a member with full rights to the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), a corresponding member of the Organization International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and associate member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

ISM’s mission on the side of copyright protection of standards is to change the approach of users of standards regarding their character: from the status of free access to the text to the need to purchase them, from the status of free multiplication of standards to the need to purchase several copies of standards under special conditions, from the status of free use/copying of passages from the text of the standards to the need to obtain the consent of the holder of the copyright on the standard — the Institute from Standardization of Moldova, from the status of dissemination to other companies of copies of on standards to the impossibility of transmitting copies to third parties.
